About cfeab

Who We are

The Collaborative for Economic Analysis of Borders (CFEAB) was created by Belinda Román, PhD as part of her ongoing effort to encourage and provide students with opportunities to:

  1. Study and learn about the economics of the Mexico-U.S. borderlands
  2. Gain hands-on research and analysis skills while producing a live interactive website; and
  3. Provide a high-quality platform that informs ongoing debates, discussions, business activities and policy objectives involving border regions using clear and current data.

Funding for this project was provided by an internal grant from St. Mary’s University. CFEAB is maintained by the Department of Economics at St. Mary’s University.

WHAT WE DO

The Collaborative for Economic Analysis of Borders (CFEAB) is a multi-disciplinary collaborative involving students, faculty and the community who live, work and/or are interested in the broader picture of the economy of the Mexico-U.S. border.  Our goal is to gather and analyze economic data with a view to informing anyone interested in what is happening long, across and within the area.  Our economic lens has a wide-angle so that we can capture the complexity and multitude of relationships that generate human energy in this space.

Some of our forthcoming topics include:

  • Health and human interactions
  • Gastronomy and Culture
  • Cross-border Commerce
  • Gender and Ethnic Relationships
  • Personal and Cybersecurity
  • Shared resources and environmental concerns
  • Innovation and Creativity
  • Science and Technology

All work on this site involves students who have expressed an interest in learning about the area or the methods used in economic analysis.

The CFEAB Team

The Collaborative for Economic Analysis of Borders (CFEAB) is maintained by the Department of Economics at St. Mary’s University. It is a collaboration between faculty and students in which the focus is a bi-national view of the Mexico-U.S. border. This is a work in progress; however, students are invited to submit an application through the Contact Us page to participate in the creation of visuals and datasets that will inform past, present, and future research on the border.
